Bengaluru: After a high midnight drama, Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party leader B S Yeddyurappa took oath as Karnataka Chief Minister today.

Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at the Raj Bhawan.

The Governor last night invited Mr Yeddyurappa to form a new government in the state.

Briefing reporters in Bengaluru, BJP General Secretary Muralidhar Rao said, Mr Yeddyurappa got the official communication from the governor and he will take oath at 9 this morning.

No SC stay on Yeddyurappa’s swearing-in

In a rare pre-dawn hearing, the Supreme Court refused to stay Yeddyurappa’s swearing-in after the Congress-JDS combine moved the apex court.

BJP had won 104 seats in the Assembly elections in the 224-member House and emerged as the single largest party but fell short of majority.
