New Delhi: The 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi from Jan 21-Jan 23.
The theme of PBD 2019 is the “role of Indian Diaspora in building a New India”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on January 21 at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The three day long event will attract many eminent persons of Indian origin from the world over.
The Indian diaspora attending the event will get an opportunity to participate in the ‘Kumbh Snan’ and attend the Republic Day parade.
The government has touted the event as first of its kind as participants will witness the cultural heritage of Varanasi and Allahabad during the Kumbh Mela.
After the PBD convention, participants will be taken to Kumbh Mela by bus on January 24 and their return from Prayagraj (Allahabad) to Delhi will be facilitated on the same day. The Railways will run special Pravasi Bharti train for them.
Speaking to media today, Minister of state in External Affairs General V K Singh said that the first day of the Divas will be dedicated to the youth.
General Singh said there will be seven sessions in the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas programme.
The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is organised by the Government of India, every year, to strengthen the engagement of the overseas Indian community and help them reconnect with their roots.
