4 major metro stations shut gates due to the ongoing JNU protest

Hundreds of JNU students carrying posters and shouting slogans were stopped, while several were detained when their protest march against the hostel fee hike.

New Delhi: Delhi Metro has closed the entry and exit gates of Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat stations due to the ongoing JNU protest. In addition, Delhi Metro also said that trains would not halt at the Lok Kalyan Marg station in central Delhi.

“As advised by Delhi Police, trains are not halting at Udyog Bhawan and Patel Chowk. Exit/Entry gates for Udyog Bhawan, Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat have been closed temporarily,” the DMRC tweeted earlier.

As advised by Delhi Police, trains are not halting at Lok Kalyan Marg and entry/exit gates of the station have also been closed temporarily, the DMRC said in another tweet.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of JNU students carrying posters and shouting slogans were stopped, while several were detained when their protest march against the hostel fee hike in varsity headed towards the Parliament on the first day of the Winter Session. The students are demanding a “complete rollback” of the recent rise in hostel fee.
