New Delhi: A woman activist from West Bengal was allegedly who came to participate in farmers’ protest at Delhi-Haryana Tikri border was allegedly raped. The victim died at a Jhajjar hospital after showing COVID-like symptoms.

“As per her father,she was raped. The victim was hospitalised for COVID &succumbed to it on Apr30. Case registered, probe on,” said Police

Haryana Police have formed an SIT to probe the allegations.

Six persons including two main accused have been named in the FIR following a complaint by the girl’s father on Saturday.  “The woman was admitted to a hospital in Jhajjar district with Covid symptoms on April 26. She died April 30. The woman’s father then filed a case of rape against two men,” a report in NDTV quoted Bahadurgarh police officer Vijay Kumar as saying.

The accused have been booked under various sections including gangrape, criminal conspiracy, molestation, wrongful confinement, kidnapping and criminal intimidation of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
