New Delhi: Sameer Wankhede, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer leading the probe into cruise drugs seizure case has hit back at the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader over latter’s tweet attack pertaining to his religion.

NCP leader & Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik shared a birth certificate and said that his name was actually Sameer Dawood Wankhede and the NCB officer had forged documents to get a government job.

Replying to Maha minister’s allegations, the NCB officer said that slanderous attacks were made on him to malign his reputation & his family.

“I would like to express that my father Sh Dnyandev Kachruji Wankhede retired as Senior Police Inspector of State Excise Department, Pune on 30.06.2007. My father is a Hindu and my mother Late Mrs Zaheeda was a Muslim. I belong to a composite, multi-religious and secular family in true Indian tradition and I am proud of my heritage,” Wankhede said in a press release.

Replying to religion charge, Wankhede said that his father is a Hindu while his mother was Muslim.

The NCB officer also took umbrage at the tirade launched against him, ever since his team cracked down on drug abuse on cruise ship, leading to arrest of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryna Khan.

“The publishing of my personal documents is defamatory in nature and an unnecessary invasion of my family privacy. It is intended to malign me, my family, my father, and my late mother,” Wankhede said.
