New Delhi: Chandigarh Police arrested a 25-year-old married man Md Shariq for killing an 18-year-old daughter Mamta in Burail Sec-45.
In the probe, it was found that Md Shariq from Bihar, strangulated her to death.
DSP, Chandigarh Police, Ram Gopal said the accused had gone to talk to her but the victim had denied talking to him following which he strangulated her.
He further said that this is a matter of one-sided love.
The incident is said to have taken place on November 19, when the victim’s mother Champa found her daughter Mamta unconscious at her home, she was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead.
The accused, Md Shariq is married and his wife lives in Bihar.
Police said that the accused wanted to flee to Bihar but was apprehended at a local bus station.
An FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The police also revealed that accuse Shariq was in a relationship with the deceased for over two years.

The victim’s mother, Champa Devi, who is a domestic help found her daughter’s body at 2 pm after returning from work.
Police also recovered a CCTV camera footage where the accused can be seen entering the house of victim Mamta.
