Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on a visit to Bihar, lashed out at the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for ‘betraying’ the BJP as well as the people of Bihar.

Launching a scathing attack on the Bihar CM, Amit Shah said that Nitish betrayed the BJP to ‘sit on Lalu Yadav’s lap’.

“Nitish deceived the people of Bihar by switching sides as voters had chosen BJP-JD(U) combine in the Assembly elections to rule the state,” Shah said in his first rally in the state after JD(U) broke ties with the BJP and joined hands with rival RJD.

Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to the state and will meet senior leaders & party functionaries, where he will take stock of party’s preparations for 2024 LS elections.

In today’s mega rally in Purnia, named Jan Bhavna Mahasabha, the Home Minister made pointed remarks at Nitish Kumar and also questioned his integrity and asked whether such opportunism was suited to a person aiming for Prime Minister’s chair.

“Nitish Kumar betrayed the people of Bihar by switching sides. Seemanchal will give a befitting reply to him & party. Can he become the prime minister like this?”, Shah asked the crowd.

Shah said that JD(U) was a junior partner in the alliance and won half the number of seats as compared to BJP in the Assmbly elections but it was because of PM Modi’s large-heartedness that he was made the Chief Minister. But, he betrayed us because of his Prime Ministerial ambitions.

The Home Minister will visit Kishanganj district in the evening, where he will hold talks with party MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and office-bearers about current political scenario of the state.

Amid attempts by the opposition to put up a strong front against the BJP ahead of the 2024 national elections, Nitish Kumar has repeatedly said he is not considering to be a part of the race for the prime minister’s post.
