Arun Jaitley to resume office in 3rd week of August
New Delhi: Union Minister Arun Jaitley, who underwent a kidney transplant surgery on May 14, is set to resume office of Finance Minister in the third week of August, reports said.
Jaitley’s return to office will be marked by India’s high-growth rate facing downside risks due to high crude prices and rising interest rates.
Jaitley has been recovering well and will be back in office after almost three-month hiatus.
Jaitley has been quite active on social media. He has written blogs on various economic and non-economic issues, like National Register for Citizens (NRC) in Assam, over four-decades of Emergency, No-confidence Motion in Parliament, Rafael fighter jet deal, and GST.
When Jaitley underwent a kidney surgery on May 14, Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal was temporarily given additional charge of the Finance Ministry.
Jaitley has been the Finance Minister since the Modi government assumed office in May 2014. He is also the leader of the Rajya Sabha.
