New Delhi: The temple state of Odisha went for the Assembly polls as well as the Lok Sabha polls. The main political tussle in the state is between the BJP vs BJD. BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik will be looking to claim the prized throne of Odisha for a record 6th time and thereby try to surpass the record of Pawan Chamlin of Sikkim.

However, the INC will also look to win some important seats in the state. Koraput will be one of the important seats where Congress will look to maintain its hold.

According to the exit poll predictions of C Voter, MyAxis and Chanakya, it is anticipated that BJD will be able to form the government in the state. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party has done well in the state and will be looking to make some inroads into the state.

Key Battles To Watch Out For

Puri emerges as a key battle with the temple town playing an important part in the battle for glory for both BJP and BJD. However, some other key battles like the seat of Kantabanji can also turn out to be an important battle for the power dynamics, with sitting CM Naveen Patnaik contesting for a record 6th term.

In the 2019 Assembly Elections, the BJD led by Naveen Patnaik won by a clear mandate of 112 seats out of the available 147 seats. Moreover, the BJD had won a whopping 44.71% vote share. But the concerning thing was there was a drop of 5 seats for the BJD in the state. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to emerge victorious on merely 23 seats and thereby formed the opposition. However, there was a slight increase in the seats of the BJP from the last elections (an increase of 13 seats). Apart from that, the Indian National Congress also competed for 138 seats. However, the Congress was routed badly and managed to win only 9 seats.
