New Delhi: A body of a male student was found in the hostel room of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) on January 9 (Monday). The IIT Guwahati issued a statement saying that the Institue cooperated with the police authorities and the autopsy report has confirmed ‘Chronic Coronary Insufficiency’ as the cause of natural death.
Earlier on December 10, 2022, a body of a faculty member was found hanging on the institute’s campus in North Guwahati.
The name and identification of the student were not revealed by the Institute, citing Supreme Court guidelines.
However, it was said that the B-Tech student was from Maharashtra.
Sources said the student was found dead in his single bedroom in Dihing hostel. He was lying in a normal position.
