Bengaluru molestation accused stalked girl for days, says top cop

Bengaluru, Jan 5: The city police have arrested 4 people in connection with the molestation case which took place in Kammanahalli area on the new year’s eve and was captured on CCTV camera.


The four have been identified as Leno, Aiyappa, Soma and Raju. Leno is a Bcom student while Aiyappa is a goods van driver. Soma and Raju are employed at a hotel.

It has come to light that the girl was being stalked by a group of four men, including a graduation student for last few days.

The Bengaluru Police today said that the main accused Aiyappa, is a delivery boy and ITI student.


“When we saw the video, it was clear it was a case of molestation. The accused had been stalking the girl for a few days. The night the incident took place, they were partying by the road. When the girl got down from the autorickshaw, one of them identified her. They then followed her near her house and molested her,” said the city police commissioner.

The woman arrived in Bengaluru a week ago, said the police chief, urging the media to respect the need to protect her identity. One of the accused lived close to where the girl stayed and started stalking her.

The CCTV footage of the incident showed the victim walking in a street while the scooter-borne duo molested and draged her to the two-wheeler, even as the girl tried to wriggle out of their clutch.

A resident with the CCTV footage had brought the incident, said to have taken place around 2.30 am on January 1, to the notice of police.

A suo moto FIR was lodged against the culprits under Section 341 and 354A and 354B.
