BJP candidate Sudhanshu Trivedi elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha

BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The seat that had fallen vacant after the demise of former Union Minister Arun Jaitley will now be taken up by Trivedi.

Trivedi had filed his nomination on Friday in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and other senior leaders of the party.

The BJP leader, who is considered close to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was a part of the four-member committee which steered party’s campaign during 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Many leaders including Keshav Prasad Maurya and Suresh Kumar Khanna took to Twitter to congratulate Trivedi.
