CBI vs CBI: No 2 Rakesh Asthana moves HC, seeks quashing of FIR against him
New Delhi: CBI special Director Rakesh Asthana on Tuesday moved Delhi High Court against the lodging of an FIR against him in a bribery case.
Asthana has sought the high court’s direction that no coercive action be taken against him.
The Chief Justice Rajendra Menon has allocated the matter to appropriate bench, which will hear it in post-lunch session.
Meanwhile, CBI director Alok Verma has reportedly taken away all charges from special director Rakesh Asthana.
DSP moves Delhi HC challenging arrest
CBI DSP Devender Kumar has also approached Delhi High Court challenging his arrest in connection with bribery allegations involving agency’s Special Director Rakesh Asthana.
CBI has sought 10 day police custody for Devender Kumar while the latter has demanded rejection of CBI plea.
The DSP has made CBI, its director Alok Kumar Verma, joint director A K Sharma and Department of Personnel and Training as parties in the case.
The CBI had yesterday arrested Kumar in connection with bribery allegations involving its second-in-command Asthana.
Devender Kumar, who has worked with Rakesh Asthana, was earlier the investigation officer in the case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi. He was arrested on the allegations of forgery in recording the statement of Sathish Sana.
