There is a clear violation by AAP, they saw this coming: Dr Sandeep Shastri
There is a clear violation by the Aam Admi Party and the party knew this was coming says leading political analyst, Dr Sandeep Shastri. Speaking to newsroompost.com, Dr Shastri said that had there been no case on hand, the Election Commission of India would not have taken such a big decision.
This entire position of parliamentary secretary ought to have been redefined by the Aam Admi Party long time back. They could have ensured that they did not invite action. According to me, the AAP saw this coming and failed to act.
The ECI always goes into a lot of detail before passing any such order. Hence in my view it is a considered order and will stand the test of any legal challenge, Dr Shastri adds.
On the demands that the AAP government should step down and Arvind Kejriwal must resign on moral grounds, Dr Shastri says that the demand is valid. In fact he should have done it long back. It was up to them to ensure that the issue was sorted out when it was raised in the first place. They did nothing about it and this action was totally invited, he also said.
It is not as though this is a one off case. Long back a similar case was reported in Karnataka as well. When Ramakrishna Hegde was made the chairman of the Planning Commission he was also an MLA at that time. There was a huge controversy on the office of profit issue. He finally was disqualified. There is a precedent here and hence I feel that the action against the AAP MLAs is valid and justified, Dr Shastri also adds.
