CM Rupani launches ‘Digital Seva Setu’, a historic initiative for digital revolution in 14,000 gram panchayats of state

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani pledged to extend the digital Seva Setu in all 14,000 gram panchayats of the state by 2021 and to provide easy and fast services to the rural citizens at home.

New Delhi: In an event organized at Gandhinagar, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani inaugurated Digital Seva Setu Program in rural areas of the state to ensure optimum utilization of technology for public welfare. Under this revolutionary imitative Chief Minister inaugurated the digital program of the state government’s Science and Technology Department in association with Bharat Net Phase-II which delivers 27 different government services-schemes to people in more than 3,000 gram panchayats of the state in first phase.

Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani has promised to extend the digital Seva Setu in all 14,000 gram panchayats of the state by 2021 and to provide easy and fast services to the rural citizens at home.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the common man of the village does not have to go to the taluka-district headquarters to get the required documents and certificates. We have ensured all the services at the village level only through this digital Seva Setu.

Vijaybhai Rupani said that this innovative system will change the work culture of the administration with maximum use of technology. He also expressed confidence that the congestion of applicants in the offices would be stopped.

Commencement of providing various government services through digital Seva Setu in 2792 gram panchayats
• Another 8,000 villages will be connected By December, 2020
• Gujarat has started Digital Seva Setu to transform the Prime Minister’s vision of building a new India through Digital India into reality.
• The use of technology will change the work culture of the administration
• Rural people will be relieved from going to offices.
• Gujarat has completed 85% of the work in Bharat Net Phase-II through optical fiber network up to rural level and has taken the lead in the country.
• Elimination of intermediaries will make it easier for people to get faster services at the village level through corruption free governance
• In the coming days, by combining various services of health-education-agriculture, we will provide more advanced services to the villages.

The Chief Minister said that the States Department of Science and Technology has initiated a digital revolution at the village level across the country by linking the Digital Seva Setu initiative with Bharat Net Phase-II. About 83% of the work has been completed in Gujarat while other states have reached only 15%.

The Chief Minister said that as a result of Digital Seva Setu, the intermediaries will come to an end as the rural people will get digital services from the Gram Panchayat itself. The Faceless work method will result in faster service and easy work culture.

Reiterating his commitment to expand this digital Seva Setu to 8,000 villages by December 2020, Vijaybhai Rupani said that this step of Gujarat Good Governance-Development Politics will be a guideline for the country in fulfilling the Prime Minister’s dream of building a new India through Digital India.

The Chief Minister said that empowerment of rural areas through digital Seva Setu will make the concept of providing city like facilities in villages reality, adding that we are committed to move towards prosperity from village to city, city to state and from state to nation. He termed the launch as a groundbreaking event for building a new India and congratulated the Department of Science and Technology for this initiative.

Chief Secretary Anil Mukim expressed happiness that the entire administration of the state and various departments have realized the concept of ‘Ease of Living’ through the widespread use of technology in public works. He termed this digital Seva Setu as a result of the decision of Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani to involve the last human beings in the process of development with good governance.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel from Mehsana district as well as other ministers from the respective districts joined in the inauguration of this digital Seva Setu through video conference.
