Comedy of errors in Punjab, Sidhu’s theatrics has affected party: Captain tears into Cong leadership

Taking direct aim at the Congress organisers in the poll-bound Punjab, Captain accused senior Congress leaders of floating preposterous lies to cover up for their mishandling of the crisis, emanating after his resignation in the state unit.

Captain Amarinder Singh

New Delhi: Captain Amarinder Singh, former Punjab chief minister, launched fresh attack on the Congress organisers in the state as well as top leadership for creating a mess in the state and then bungling up the matter rather than taking corrective measures.

Taking direct aim at the Congress organisers in the poll-bound Punjab, Captain accused senior Congress leaders of floating preposterous lies to cover up for their mishandling of the crisis, emanating after his resignation in the state unit.

He also accused them of concocting a web of lies to divert attention from the real issues and thus making them not accountable for the political crisis.

Capt calls Congress ‘comedy of errors’

Taking umbrage at the discrepancies in number of MLAs reportedly against him, Captain called out Harish Rawat and Surjewala and said that it was apparently happening because Sidhu’s theatrics have impacted them.

Harish Rawat reportedly told press yesterday that 43 MLAs had written to top Congress leadership while Surjewala today claimed that this number was 78.

Further launching a frontal assault on Sidhu, Captain claimed that entire crisis was orchestrated by Navjot Sidhu and also questioned the leadership as to why the latter was still dictating terms in party after such loss of face before public.

‘Congress in total disarray, senior party leaders disenchanted’

“Having been pushed into a corner over its mishandling of the Punjab crisis, Congress was now in a total state of panic, which was evident in the statements of its leaders,” said Captain Amarinder. The former Chief Minister said the panic-stricken party, grappling with internal chaos, was trying hard to shift the blame of its own failures.

“It’s sad to see the way they are resorting to blatant lies to justify their wrongdoings,” he added.

Captain further said that the grand old party is in total disarray today and pinned the blame on ‘party managers’ for plunging a well-managed state into deep crisis.

He also said that many senior leaders are disenchanted today, apparently referring to Kabil Sibal’s open criticism of the party and subsequently getting cornered by Gandhi supporters who showed up at his residence and indulged in damaging vehicle and property.
