Karnataka govt formation: Cong-JDS delegation meets Guv, submits list of 117 MLAs
After meeting the governor Kumaraswamy said that they have submitted a list of 117 MLAs to the governor and requested him to consider their claim to form the government.
Karnatak Congress chief Parameshwara said, “The governor assured us he would act as per Constitution, Supreme Court judgments and precedents.”
“Governor has assured that he will take action as per the Constitution. We have full faith in him that he will not do injustice. We have our numbers, not not even a single member has moved out. We will not allow any such thing to happen,” Congress leader DK Shivakumar said.
This way an intense jockeying for power in Karnataka has reached climax. A delegation led by chief ministerial candidate HD Kumaraswamy met Governor and submitted a list of 117 MLAs.
“We have submitted the necessary documents which show that we have the numbers required to form the government. He (Governor) promised that he will consider according to the Constitution,” said Kumaraswamy.
Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar said that they have full faith in Governor that he will not do injustice. “We have our numbers, not even a single member has moved out. We will not allow any such thing to happen,” he said.
The May 12 Assembly election has thrown up a fractured verdict with the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats in the 224-member house, falling eight seats short of the 112 needed to form a government in the state. The Congress won 78 seats and the JD(S) 37.
