New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday performed the Bhoomi Pujan of the grand ‘Sainya Dham’, a one-of-its-kind war memorial built at a cost of about Rs 63 crore at Guniyal village, Dehradun. The Shaheed Samman Yatra was also duly concluded on this occasion.
The sacred soil brought by the Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from the courtyard of every martyr family of the state for Sainik Dham was put in the urn.
Uttarakhand minister Ganesh Joshi said the huge entry gate of Sainya Dham will be named after the country’s first CDS, General Bipin Rawat, who died in a tragic helicopter crash last week. “It will be a tribute to General Rawat who will always remain in our hearts,” he said.
General Bipin Rawat owes ancestral origin to Uttarakhand, his ancestral village is named Sain. The area’s panchayat block head, Mahendra Rana had written a letter to chief minister, requesting to build a war memorial in the General’s village.

Rajnath Singh while paying tributes to the martyrs said that it is our cultural tradition that those who lay down their lives for the country are considered as gods. Uttarakhand is the land of Gods, tenacity, valor and might.
According to the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the fifth Dham war memorial is being built in Uttarakhand.
The sacred soil of the courtyard of the martyr soldiers has been brought to here. According to the expectation from the Uttarakhand government, the work of building a Sainik Dham underway.
He further said that Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji had given the status of a separate state to Uttarakhand.
