Delhi HC sets new precedent, allows oath of newly appointed DHJS officer via video conferencing

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday created history by allowing oath of newly appointed officer of Delhi Higher Judicial Services (additional district/sessions judge) through video conferencing.

Delhi has become the first state across the nation to administer the oath of HJS officer via video conferencing.

On 13th April, 2020, upon the directions of Delhi High Court, District and Sessions judge (HQ) Shri Girish Kathpalia administered the oath of office to Sri Manish Sharma. Delhi was also the first state to establish e-courts.

This move by the Delhi High Court shows its commitment towards the successful use of electronic medium in dispensation of justice.

The initiative by Delhi High Court in difficult times of Covid-19 pandemic will be a learning and an inspiration for other organizations too.
