New Delhi: At least three people lost their lives after an accident at the Trikut Ropeway service in Jharkhand’s Deoghar. Over 40 people were stuck mid-air in three cable cars in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district for about 40 hours.
The rescue operation were taken out by Indian Air Force (IAF), the operation involved two Air Force helicopters and dozens of officials.
Three people died during the IAF rescue operation, a man and a women died after falling from a helicopter while being rescued, while one died in the hospital during treatment.

How did the Deoghar cable-car mishap happen?
It is said that the incident happened when some cable cars collided on a ropeway at Trikut hills close to Baba Baidyanath Temple on Sunday (April 1o).
Soon after this incident happened, the IAF were informed to carry out the rescue of approximately 40 tourists stuck in the Ropeway Service. Soon after this, the Indian Air Force quickly responded to the request and deployed one Mi-17 and one Mi-17 V5 helicopter early in the morning on Monday for the rescue operation.

While one woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital early on Sunday morning, the death toll in the ropeway mishap at the tourist spot atop Trikoot hills rose to two as another man died on Sunday evening while being airlifted.
However, according to the officials the exact reason behind this accident is yet to be confirmed. Also, the ropeway manager and other employees had escaped from the after the incident, said PTI.
Jharkhand High Court on Deoghar cable-car mishap
Now, the Jharkhand High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of Deoghar ropeway incident and has ordered an inquiry into the matter. The Jharkhand HC will now hear the matter on April 26.
