Fighting Covid-19: CM Rupani outlines measures by Gujarat govt, during video interaction with PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi conducted an online review meeting with Chief Ministers of 8 states to understand the measures taken by their respective administration for curbing COVID-19. The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani attended the meeting and provided a detailed outline on the measures taken by the Gujarat Government to control and curb COVID-19, especially after Diwali. The Chief Minister stated that the state government has increased the number of dedicated beds for COVID-19 patients across Gujarat.

CM Rupani said, “There are around 55,000 isolation beds available in Gujarat. Out of this, nearly 82% i.e, 45,000 beds are unoccupied. Hence, the patients can avail these beds without any hassle. The 108 Ambulance Services have been instrumental in ensuring timely provision of healthcare to the affected patients, without any delay. The state government has also ensured that the necessary medical care and bed is ready for a patient by the time he/she reaches the hospital.”

The Chief Minister also gave details about the success of 104 Fever Helpline which provides necessary guidance regarding COVID-19 to people in their homes. 2.78 lakh people have reaped benefits of this helpline till date.

The Chief Minister also informed the Prime Minister that the state government has increased the number of teams for General and Community Surveillance and also increased the number of Dhanvantari Raths from 1100 to 1700. These Raths provide O.P.D services at doorstep. People suffering from fever, cough, cold, B.P, diabetes etc have availed treatment through the Dhanvantari Rath. 1,52,000 people availed treatment through the Dhanvantari Rath on a single day, i.e on 23rd November, 2020.

The state government has also increased the testing capacity. 70,000 tests were conducted on a single day, i.e on 23rd November, 2020.

The state government has initiated the ‘Sanjeevani Corona Ghar Seva’ for patients under Home Isolation in Ahmedabad. Nearly 3000 calls are received and necessary treatment is provided through 700 Sanjeevani Raths every day. This is a unique initiative wherein doctors and paramedical staff provide necessary treatment to patients under Home Isolation on a regular basis. A large number of tests are also conducted at Railway Stations, Commercial Complexes, Highways etc. Nearly 11 lakh tests have been conducted in Ahmedabad till date.

The CM also gave details about the Vadil Sukhakari Seva which is provided to safeguard senior citizens from COVID-19 in Ahmedabad. Senior citizens undergo regular health check-up and are provided necessary medicines. More than 18,000 people have reaped its benefits till date.

CM also said that the state government has implemented night curfew in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara and assured the Prime Minister that the Gujarat Government is well-prepared in its fight against COVID-19.

CM Rupani said, “India and Gujarat have been successful in curbing COVID-19, during the initial days of the outbreak, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state and the country will once again curb and control the virus under his guidance and leadership.”
