First meeting of council of ministers today, PM Modi to outline roadmap of new govt

PM Modi is expected to underline role of ministers of state in the running of ministries and may ask Cabinet ministers to give their deputies adequate responsibilities.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold the first meeting of new Council of Ministers in New Delhi today.

During the meeting, Mr Modi is likely to outline the road-map and action plan of his government.

PM Modi is expected to underline role of ministers of state in the running of ministries and may ask Cabinet ministers to give their deputies adequate responsibilities.

The meeting of Council of Ministers was a regular feature in the previous tenure of the Narendra Modi government. Modi used to review the performances of key ministries and sectors.

Deliberations are also likely to be held on an action plan for government’s next five years and Modi is expected to brief the ministers on it.

On Monday, the Prime Minister had interacted with all Secretaries to the Union Government and asked them to prepare a five-year plan document for each Ministry with well-defined targets.

The Union Cabinet will also meet today ahead of the Council of Ministers’ meeting.
