New Delhi: The stage is set for the inauguration of Ayodhya’s grand international airport on December 30. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the holy city on Satruday for its inauguration.
Preparations for the launch of Ayodhya international airport is final stages and last-minute touches are being given for tomorrow’s event.
Prime Minister will inaugurate the grand airport, to be rechristened as Maharashi Valamiki International airport.
The newly constructed international airport will mark the onset of religious pilgrimage in the holy city, besides establishing multi-city connectivity to the holy town. The airport, built up at a cost of about Rs 1450 crore will connect many cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata & more.
PM Modi is also expected to hold a roadshow from the airport to the revamped Ayodhya dham railway station.
About Ayodhya airport
The state-of-the art airport is being developed in phases. Phase I will see construction of airport’s terminal building with an area of 6500 sq. m and a capacity of serving about 10 lakh passengers annually. It will have capacity of parking four aircrafts.
An architectural marvel
Ayodhya airport has been designed while keeping Lord Ram as the focus. Airport architect Vipul Varshney told a news channel that the motive behind the modeling of airport was to convey & portray the tale of Ramayana in the most beautiful & soulful way.
The newly built airport complex has a striking resemblance with the temple architecture and will have 7 mounted peaks (shikhara). The main peak will be at the centre while three each will be at the exterior & posterior side of airport.
Varshney has made extensive of paintings & murals to depict the life of Lord Rama inside the complex. A mural of bow & arrow has been erected outside the airport, which symbolizes victory of good over evil.
