In the video, Trivendra can be seen climbing up while the elephant stands beside him and the convoy.

New Delhi: Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had to stop his convoy after an elephant came in their way. Rawat was coming to Kotdwar via Kotdwar-Dugadda road when he and his men were halted by the elephant. He had to climb the rocks to save himself from the situation.

A video of the former chief minister climbing the tricks along with his men went viral on the internet. In the video, Trivendra can be seen climbing up while the elephant stands beside him and the convoy. An official can also be seen falling from a big rock while hiding from the animal. The incident occurred on the evening of September 14.

While he was coming from Pauri to Kotdwar the elephant came on the road from the forest near Tut Gadre. For some time Mr Rawat sat in his vehicle and waited for the giant mammal to leave, but as it approached the convoy, they had to run towards the hill to save their lives. It was a bizarre and frightening experience for the former CM.

After some time, the forest officials were called to the scene to handle the animal. The officials had to struggle for about half an hour for controlling the elephant. After a tussle, an official fired in the air to scare the elephant and eventually the animal ran away.

Actually, the area is prone to elephants coming on the roads and the highway and this was not the first incident there. After reaching Kotdwar, Mr Rawat said that rather than making new districts, such areas should be developed.
