New Delhi: Hundreds of thousands voted across Karnataka on Saturday in Assembly elections crucial for both the ruling Congress and the BJP after the vitriol-filled campaign. Opinion polls have predicted a tight contest between the two national parties while Janata Dal (S) is expected to emerge as the kingmaker.

But how do the Congress, BJP and JD(S) and their key candidates fare on social media? The Chief Minister has 1.56 lakh followers on Twitter, nearly half of what his rival and former chief minister Yeddyurappa has. On Facebook, Siddaramaiah has 1.81 lakh people following him, that’s about one-tenth of the 17 lakh followers that Yeddyurappa has. Here, Newsroompost presents a detailed report where the numbers speak on behalf of the parties and candidates themselves.
