IRCTC launches India’s first indigenous cruise liner; here all you need to know

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in collaboration with a Pvt firm Cordelia Cruises, launched India’s first indigenous cruise liner on September 18.

“IRCTC has joined hands and signed the agreement with Cordelia Cruises being operated by Waterways Leisure Tourism Private Ltd for promotion and marketing of the first indigenous luxury cruise in India. This is another incredible luxury travel offering under IRCTC’s umbrella of tourism services to the public,” the railway PSU said in a statement.

The cruise will travel to the most popular Indian and international tourist destinations such as Goa, Diu, Kochi, the Lakshadweep Islands, and Sri Lanka. The bookings can be made through the IRCTC website.

The tourists onboard the cruise will travel to tourist destinations such as Goa, Diu, Kochi, and the Lakshadweep Islands in the first phase. Currently, it has its base in Mumbai.
In the second phase, the cruise will be relocated to Chennai, beginning from May 2022. Later it will travel to Sri Lankan destinations such as Colombo, Galle, Trincomalee, and Jaffna.

Mumbai-Goa-Mumbai (2 Nights 3 Days)

Mumbai – Diu – Mumbai (2 Nights 3 Days)

Mumbai – at sea – Mumbai (2 Nights 3 Days)

Kochi – Lakshadweep – at sea – Mumbai (3 Nights 4Days)

Mumbai – at sea – Lakshadweep – at sea – Mumbai (4 Nights 5 Days)

Goa – Mumbai – at sea – Lakshadweep – at sea – Goa (5 Nights 6 Days)

Chennai – at sea – Colombo (2 Nights 3 Days)

Chennai – Jaffna – Chennai (2 Nights 3 Days)

Chennai – at sea – Colombo – Galle – Trincomalee – Chennai (5 Nights 6 Days).

The cost of the travel for individual varies from Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000 depending upon the trips.

Besides, children up to the age of 12 years can sail free on any of the trips on any of the cruises till February 2022, only if the bookings are made till October 31, 2021. Port charges, gratuity, and GST will apply to children aging from 2-12 years.

Covid-19 protocols will be followed strictly inside the cruise. All the crew members are fully vaccinated. According to the official mandate of the government, the number of guests on each cruise will be limited.

Besides, the cruise features a package of recreational and leisure activities such as restaurant, swimming pool, bar, theatre, open cinema, kids’ area, gymnastic, and others.
