Jammu and Kashmir: School student beaten up for wearing tilak during class in Rajouri, teacher suspended

A Hindu family alleged that their daughter was beaten up by a school teacher for wearing a tilak on her forehead in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district

New Delhi:  In a strange incident, a young girl student was beaten up by a school teacher for wearing a tilak on her forehead. The incident was reported from Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. However, the Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri district ordered to suspension of the teacher. Moreover, the district administration also asked the police to investigate the incident further.

Teacher identified as Nisar Ahmed

After the preliminary investigation, the teacher who beat the student has been identified as Nisar Ahmed. As per the Rajouri district administration, the incident of the beating of two young girls was first reported on social media. The middle school is situated in Khadurian Panchyat Drammen.

Till the suspension order is revoked, Nisar Ahmed will be under suspension. It is important to note that if anyone hurts a child, it will be considered a crime and can make a person liable for punishment under sections 323, 325, 352, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code

Section 23 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2002, says, ”Whoever having charges of child assaults a child, he/she is punishable with imprisonment, which may extend to six months or a fine or both.

Police to investigate matter

So far, it is an alleged matter. The reality of the incident will be uncovered after the full investigation of the case. The district police authority have been asked to investigate the incident.

Taking about the incident, Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police Mohd Aslam Chowdhary said, ”We have the information of the incident and also received a complaint. We received a complaint that a minor girl was thrashed and some objectionable words were used by a teacher against her. We have launched an investigation into the matter.”
