Jharkhand: EC recommends cancellation of CM Hemant Soren’s Assembly membership

New Delhi: Election Commission has cancelled Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren‘s assembly membership. He was accused of allotting mining lease to himself.

The Central Election Commission has sent a letter to the Governor in this regard on Tuesday which was received by the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

Although he will not be barred from contesting elections, but will lose the post of Chief Minister.

Sources also confirmed the letter by ECI was received by Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais office, but the details cannot be revealed as it is sent in a sealed cover.

The Bhartiya Janata Party has alleged that Hemant Soren had allotted himself a stone mining lease.

BJP Member of Parliament from Godda, Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey, on Thursday  tweeted that the letter from the ECI has reached the Raj Bhavan.

Ranchi-based businessman Prem Prakash arrested

This comes a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested the Ranchi-based businessman Prem Prakash in connection with an illegal coal mining case.

Prem Prakash, is a close adviser to Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

In the fresh raids, ED had recovered two AK-47 assault rifles and 60 bullets.
