Kalatapasvi K Viswanath Dies: PM Modi, Venkaiah Naidu and several leaders condole the demise of noted film director

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing of veteran film director Kalatapasvi K Viswanath on Friday and said that he was a stalwart of the cinema world.

Renowned Telugu filmmaker Kalatapasvi K Viswanath died at his residence late on Thursday at the age of  92 from age-related ailments.

He was a film director, screenwriter and actor. He was a recipient of five National Film Awards, seven state Nandi Awards, ten Filmfare Awards South, and a Filmfare Award in Hindi.

He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992 and in 2017, the Central government awarded him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award- the highest award in Indian cinema.

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also expressed grief over the passing away of the renowned director.
