New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi’s membership in Lok Sabha has been suspended after his conviction in the defamation case, where the Surat court sentenced him to two years in jail. While Congress intends to fight back against the order and calls it a political move, BJP has got the stage set to lead the political discourse.
Rahul Gandhi has been on BJP’s target for days on his democracy remarks in London and it is yet another matter where the ruling party takes on the opposition. BJP is holding a press conference to put forward its stand on the matter.

# Thakur said that Congress has big lawyers and Rahul Gandhi needs to introspect why no one gave him the right legal advise.
# Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that he had a habit of saying such remarks.
Rahul Gandhi has been convicted in a defamation case and sentenced to 2-year jail.
As per the law, conviction leads to disqualification from parliament membership.

# He added that calling a backward class with such remarks and believing to be above law is a sense of entitlement and BJP condemns it.
# He said that in 2013, the then PM Manmohan Singh brought an ordinance to amend the law, which was torn by Rahul Gandhi and he is being affected by the same law today.
