In maiden Parliament address, President Murmu talks about Article 370, Surgical strikes, Triple Talaq

President Murmu -- Parliament address

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday  addressed the joint sitting of Parliament. With her joint address, the Budget Session for the current financial year begins. This was President Murmu’s first address of the joint session of Parliament.

In her first address to Parliament, President Droupadi Murmu said that the country has a fearless & decisive government and it is working overtime to fulfill the big ambitions of common citizens.

She also expressed gratitude to citizens for electing stable government for 2 consecutive terms and said that the govt is continuously working for poor & unprivileged and trying to find permanent solution for them.

Citing surgical strikes to crackdown on terror, she said that incumbent government is a strong & decisive government, a fact that is being recognized the world over.

“From the surgical strikes to the tough crackdown on terrorism, from the LoC to the LAC, from the abrogation of Article 370 to the triple talaq, my government has been recognised as a decisive government,” President Murmu said. She said that government’s decisions in last 9 years has made the country strong.

The Economic Survey will also be tabled after President’s address.
