New Delhi: Odisha has traditionally been a “safe seat” for the Bharatiya Janta Party with the incumbent Biju Janta Dal always rooting for the ruling party since the 1998 Lok Sabha Elections.
BJP and BJD have always been in some sort of alliance or understanding in the state of Odisha. However, this time the BJD vs BJP fight seems to be the talk of the town. Moreover, with the controversies surrounding the temple town of Puri, it will be interesting to see who walks out of the “dangal”.

Key Battles To Watch Out For
Odisha’s key candidature will start with the sitting MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi (BJP) along with party loyalist Sambit Patra from the temple town Puri (BJP). Other strong contenders in the state are Manju Lata Mandal from Bhadrak (BJD), Sarmistha Sethi from Jajpur (BJD), and Rajashree Mallick from Jagatsinghpur (BJD).
Although the INC has fielded candidates in 20 seats out of the 21, it is anticipated that the main fight is going to be between the BJP and the BJD. However, for INC sitting MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka from Koraput has filed his nomination again. So, it will be interesting to see whether he can move the results once again in his favour.
