New Delhi: In a major setback to Uttar Pradesh Congress ahead of by-polls, Anu Tandon a senior leader and former Parliamentarians has quit the party. She represented Congress from Unnao Lok Sabha and is also considered close to Gandhi family.

Her resignation comes at a time when Cong General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is pulling out all stops to revive party for the next Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Anu Tandon took to Twitter to announce her resignation from the party. In her statement, she expressed concerns over leaders in the state giving priority to self-branding than party’s interests.

Anu Tandon says that she has been associated with Congress for last 15 years and worked to the best of her ability and commitment to serve the party.

She goes on to says that party’s debacle in 2019 LS was disturbing but more worrisome is the current state of party in the state.

Anu Tandon quitting the Congress party at a time when Priyanka Gandhi is re-organising and powering the party for face-off in 2022 Assembly elections is a wake-up call for the party.

According to reports, she was hurt over being sidelined in the party and also expressed her disappointment before the high command, but to no avail.
