Man kills neice for marrying man of different caste in UP’s Sitapur, later surrenders with murder weapon

During the invetigation it was found that last year in November, the man Roopchandra called her to Ghaziabad and after that both eloped.

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a girl was murdered for marrying a man of another caste in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur. Police said that it is a suspected case of honour killing.

The accused who later surrendered at a police station with the murder weapon is victims uncle.

The incident is said to have happened at Bajnagar village under the Pisawan police station area in the district on Saturday.

Police said that this is a case of  “honour killing” and the accused has confessed to killing his niece.

According to reports, the 20-year-old woman was in relationship with Roop Chandra Maurya, who was married and was from the same village.

After recieving information about the same, the Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

During the invetigation it was found that last year in November, the man Roopchandra called her to Ghaziabad and after that both eloped.

The couple then got married in court, after staying together for few days they had recently returned back to the village, the police said.

Police said that the accusse was planning to kill her after she eloped and got married to Roop Chandra Maurya.

Following the incident, Maurya’s family registered a complaint against the girl’s uncle and his family including his minor son for dragging and murdering the girl.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sitapur, Narendra Pratap Singh said that the complaint said that the accused dragged the 20-year-old out of her house and allegedly murdered her after she came to live in the village.

He also said that the case is closely being investigated by the Police and further action will be taken after the probe.
