New Delhi: The 74th Republic Day parade at capital’s Kartavyapath this year will be special this year, for quite a few purposes. For the first time, the R-day Parade will showcase only ‘Made in India’ weapons & arsenal while couple of women officers will showcase their strength, also leading their respective contingents.
Lieutenant Chetana Sharma is one such distinguished woman officer who will lead the Made In India Akash missile system at this year’s parade.
Lieutenant Dimple Bhati from the Corps of Signals is another woman officer, who will draw the attention of eminent guests, owing to her daredevil act.
She will be riding the motorcycle and will be part of famous Daredevils team at the parade. This will be her first participation in the Daredevils team. The woman officer has been training with the team for past 1 year.
Who is Lieutenant Dimple Bhati?
Lieutenant Dimple Bhati hails from Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district. She has been preparing for the daredevil act for past one year and has been training with the her team at various events.
As she performs stunts in the Republic Day parade, the nation will pay a salute to the brave woman officer.
Though, it’s her first appearance in the Daredevil squad, she also won accolades & appreciation while passing out of academy. She bagged the silver medal at her passing out parade of Officers Training Academy (OTA).
What is her connection with Param Vir Chakra Shaitan Singh?
Lieutenant Dimple Bhati is the granddaughter of Param Vir Chakra Shaitan Singh Bhati. Her elder sister Lt Divya Bhati is also an officer in the Indian Army. Lt Divya was commissioned into the Army in 2020 as Captain.
Lieutenant Dimple Bhati is joyous and upbeat over her maiden appearance in the Republic Day parade.
Speaking to a news publication, she said that the daredevils have been part of parade for more than a decade but this is my first appearance with the squad.
“I am a first-generation Army officer and feel honoured to be part of the parade”, she said.
