New Delhi: Article 370, giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir, stands revoked after its passage from both Houses of Parliament. However, even before its revocation, the valley remained on the boil with politicians whipping up frenzy and fear psychosis among the valley residents.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and NC leader Omar Abdullah left no stone unturned in instigating the locals and issuing threats to Centre if it dares to abrogate Article 370. Second rung leaders of these parties resorted to rumour-mongering.

Article 370 will alter essence of the state – was their complaint but this is not the truth. Today, they stand exposed after the abolition of Article 370.
The abolition of Article 370 has taken away their privileges and claims over special status. Today, their bungalows estimated to be in crores is at risk.

Both Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are no longer Chief Ministers but still reside in the government bungalows. Crores have been spent on these bungalows. According to media reports, they have spent over Rs 50 crores in revamping and refurbishing these expensive properties. But, they stand losing out these govt properties as Article 370 no longer gives them special rights.

The bungalows of Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are on Gufkaar road in Srinagar and is well-equipped with all modern amenities. Both will stake claim over these bungalows but that won’t be possible with scrapping of Article 370.

Yesterday, Farooq Abdullah told newsmen that his life is at risk and may be murdered. These leaders would like to continue with these bungalows but that won’t be possible with new set of laws kicking in after Jammu and Kashmir loses its special status.

Farooq Abdullah though lives in his own house, he still has access to the government bungalow allotted to him. Few days from now, all those privileges will be done away with.
