New Delhi: Actor Mithun Chakraboraty who recently joined BJP has been accorded Y+ category security by the Central govt on Thursday. Mithun was in the list of 40 star campaigners for the elections in West Bengal.
Senior officials said that commandos of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will accompany Mithun as part of his security cover during the campaigning.
While sharing stage with PM Modi he said, “I am a pure cobra. You will be finished in one bite. Now, remember the new slogan — Ek chhobole chhobi (One bite and you will become a photo).” He also said that his dream came true after joining BJP, “I always had a dream to work for the poor, downtrodden. Now, it is seen as being fulfilled.”
Mithun was earlier nominated to Rajya Sabha by Mamata’s Trinamool Congress in 2014. But he resigned from the post in 2016 due to health reasons and after his name surfaced in Saradha Ponzi scam.

Assembly elections of West Bengal will take place in eight phases with the first phase on 27th March and the last on 29th April. The results will be out on 2nd May. This time, the state will witness a triangular contest in the elections with TMC, Congress-Left alliance and the BJP in the fray.
