New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dedicated to the nation, AIIMS Guwahati and 3 other medical colleges at Nalbari, Nagaon & Kokrajhar.
AIIMS Guwahati, built at a cost of over Rs 1,000 crore is the first such medical facility in the North-East region and will cater to the residents of all seven N-E states.

It may be noted that the foundation stone for AIIMS Guwahati was laid by PM Narendra Modi himself in May 2017. The first sprawling multi-specialty hospital coming up in North-East region reinforces Modi govt’s commitment for inclusive growth in this region.

Specialty & Trauma Centres at AIIMS Guwahati
AIIMS Guwahati boasts of a big medical infrastructure that will expand further in years to come. Currently, the hospital has 150 beds and will be enhanced upto 750 beds in coming years.
AIIMS Guwahati will work as full-fledged tertiary care hospital in next 3-4 years. A fully equipped trauma center has been made operational that can receive & handle emergency cases 24×7.
Apart from this, AIIMS Guwahati boasts of several super-specialty centers/departments relating to neurology, burns and plastic surgery, interventional surgery, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.
Currently, there are about 200 MBBS students enrolled with AIIMS Guwahati.
