Investigating into the cause of blood red water in Peru’s river, South American ecologists came to conclusion that the red river phenomenon was because of the soil erosion.
They concluded that the presence of high mineral deposits in the mountainous regions & valleys, the colour of water had turned red. High quantity of red sandstone, rich in iron oxide was apparently the reason behind red colour. Whenever rains happen, the mineral & red sandstone deposits are swept down the mountain and thus colour the water red.
