New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the newly developed Joka-Taratala metro stretch (Purple Line) of Kolkata Metro during his visit to the state on December 30. The inauguration of Joka-Taratala stretch of Joka-Esplanade Metro Project will be done via video conferencing from Howrah railway station, said officials.
Prime Minister will also inaugurate West Bengal’s first Vande Bharat Express train on Friday, connecting two main cities Howrah & New Jalpaiguri.

The newly built stretch will facilitate fast connectivity and will also give impetus to local trade. Those residing in southern part of metropolitan city like Sarsuna, Dakghar, Muchipara and South 24 Parganas are likely to benefit immensely from the Metro project.
Among the slew of projects planned during PM Modi’s visit is also the laying of foundation stone for redevelopment of New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. The station is set to be developed at a cost of about Rs 335 crore.
