Rotary Club distributes 1500 AI-enabled TorchIt sticks to visually impaired people

New Delhi: Rotary Club Sahibabad, a part of the renowned non-political organization ‘Rotary International’ distributed 1500 Torch-it blind sticks to visually impaired people. In the recently held event at PHD Chamber Of Commerce New Delhi’s August Kranti Marg, the Club, under EMU Line Private Ltd’s CSR, handed over the AI-powered devices to the specially-abled youth in a bid to increase their self-esteem and confidence.

The event was held under the guidance & supervision of Organisation’s District project chair Rtn Rakesh Jain. MoC Ann Alka Munjal seamlessly steered the entire program. The occasion was graced by Chief Guest, former Chief Justice of India Uday Umesh Lalit and Guest of Honour Sh Rajesh Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary Govt of India along with District Governor (DG) Priyatosh Gupta and many other dignitaries from the Distt. Many members of Rotary Club Ananta, Delhi also graced the occasion with their presence and enthusiasm.

These advanced yet affordable devices are aimed at empowering sightless people by assisting them in detecting nearby obstacles with high accuracy by using sensors. This increases the overall mobility of any person suffering from complete or partial blindness, giving them more awareness & control over their surrounding environment.

Additionally, using these Torch-it sticks on a daily basis further makes the differently able person connect to the world in a better way & lead a more free-spirited life.
