New Delhi: A terrifying incident unfolded in Pune’s Sadashiv Peth as captured by a CCTV camera, revealing a man brutally attacking a 19-year-old woman with a machete. The victim narrowly escaped the assault thanks to the timely intervention of local residents.
The disturbing video of the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has surfaced on social media, shedding light on the terrifying ordeal. The young woman sustained injuries to her head and hand but has since been discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.
In the one-minute footage, the assailant can be seen relentlessly pursuing the woman with the sharp weapon along a busy street. Suddenly, he strikes her from behind, causing her to fall to the ground. However, within moments, alert locals rush to her aid, coming to her rescue. Some courageous individuals even attempt to subdue the attacker by hurling heavy objects at him.

According to the police, the victim had severed ties with the attacker, who happens to be her former classmate, due to unresolved issues. DCP Sandeep Gill informed ANI that the assault occurred when the young woman refused to engage in conversation with the attacker while she was accompanied by a male friend.
Following scrutiny of the CCTV footage, authorities have registered a case against the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Reports indicate that the assailant had been harassing the woman for a considerable period of time. The victim’s mother disclosed that they had previously lodged a complaint with the accused’s father, yet he persisted in his malicious intentions, culminating in the chilling attempt on their daughter’s life.
The shocking incident has ignited concern about the safety and security of individuals, particularly women, in public spaces.
