Telangana: Who is KV Ramana Reddy? BJP candidate who defeated CM KCR & CM hopeful Revanth Reddy

New Delhi: If Telangana election results came as a shocking setback for Chandrashekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtriya Samiti (BRS), the prestigious Kamareddy assembly constituency of the state also sprang a surprise.

KV Ramana Reddy, the BJP candidate left the poll pundits baffled & bewildered today as he surpassed the heavyweight candidates like incumbent Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Roa as well as CM hopeful Revanth Reddy in today’s election outcome.

Notably, Revanth Reddy is the Congress president chief and is being seen as party’s top contender for CM post. Congress has emerged as single largest party in the state, after comfortably crossing the half-way mark of 60.

As per latest reports, BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy was leading in the prestigious Kamareddy seat.
KV Ramana Reddy had garnered over 50,000 votes while BRS-led KCR and Cong chief Revanth Reddy were trailing behind with about 46,000 & 45,000 votes.

Who is KV Ramana Reddy?

Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, who emerged as giant slayer in Telangana Assembly election is a businessman by profession.

The 53-year-old Ramana Reddy is Class 12 pass-out. His total assets stand at Rs 49.7 crore, out of Rs 2.2 crore assets are moveable and Rs 47.5 crore assets immoveable. In his election affidavit, he declared his total income at Rs 9.8 lakh of which Rs 4.9 lakh is self-income.

How he outwitted KCR & Revanth Reddy

The BJP candidate drummed up support for himself by invoking his native connection to the constituency. He urged the constituency residents to choose between local and outsider candidate, saying that ‘he will live with them and die with them’.

His strong poll pitch for native vs non-local person found connect with the voters and he eventually ended up beating heavyweights like KCR and Revanth Reddy, projected as Congress CM chief in the recently concluded elections.
