Trump hails India at APEC, says Modi very successful in bringing Indians together

Hanoi: US President Donald Trump has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he has worked to bring people together.

Addressing at the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APECC) summit in Vietnam, today Trump said India has achieved astounding growth since it opened its economy.

He said India is a country of 125 million people and is the World’s largest democracy. The US president said Modi has worked to bring people of this vast country together.

“India is celebrating its 70th anniversary. It’s a sovereign democracy, as well as…think of this… (one) of over one billion people,” said the US President today, with the flourish he has come to be known for.

“It’s the largest democracy in the world,” he added.

“Since India opened its economy it has achieved astounding growth and a new world of opportunity for its expanding middle class, and PM Modi has been working to bring that vast country and all of its people together as one, and he’s working at it very, very successfully indeed,” said Trump.
