Twelve injured as mob attacks people attending Sunday mass in Kolhapur
New Delhi: A mob attacked people who were attending Sunday mass prayer in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, resulting in the injury to at least 12 people.
The victims were holding Sunday mass prayer in a rented room in the village when a mob of approximately 20 people came into the room and attacked the victims with iron rod, knife, chopper.
Kolhapur SP Abhinav Deshmkh told Republic news that it is not the attack for robbery but we suspect that attackers may belongs to radical right wing groups. “The attack could be religious hate crime”, he said.
Accused fled away in the Belgavi direction where few radical groups are operating.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shriniwas Ghadge said no arrests have been made so far and that police were verifying CCTV footage. The police have formed five teams to look for the accused
