Chandigarh: For every proud Haryanvi, especially the family members of those brave policemen who made supreme sacrifice for Haryana and the Country, February 14 will be engraved in their mind, soul, and heart as on this day, the State Police received President’s Colour in recognition of its exceptional service.
Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah, while attending a state-level function held at the Haryana Police Academy in Karnal district’s Madhuban presented the President’s Colour, a replica of the flag to the unit which all officers and ranks of the force can now proudly wear as an insignia on their uniform.
The Union Home Minister presented the award on behalf of the President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij also remained present on this occasion.

The resonating sound of the police band proudly playing the National Anthem, amid the chanting of ‘Sarva Dharma Prarthana’ not only highlights the spirit of unity and being one as a nation but also gave a strong glimpse of the State police force’s strength and its glorious history.
The Union Home Minister also paid rich tributes to the 40 CRPF jawans who lost their lives in one of the deadliest attacks on Indian Security Forces in Pulwama on this day in 2019.
“The supreme and indomitable sacrifice made by these brave soldiers will always be written in golden letters in the history of Indian Security Forces,” said Sh. Shah.
He also paid tributes to former External Affairs Minister Late Smt. Sushma Swaraj on her birth anniversary.

Praising the working style of the State Police, the Union Home Minister said that the President’s Colour is a certification of the utmost level of professionalism and standards a state police can receive.
“I am feeling extremely happy and proud to present the President’s Colour to the ‘Dhaakad’ Police of Haryana which from the day of its establishment till today has selflessly served the Nation and Haryana,” said Sh. Shah.
He further informed that the President’s Award is given to the police after a review of 25 years of continuous service and service with valour and dedication.
“Haryana Police has a history of being alert on every level. Whether it is about maintaining law and order situation, ensuring public safety, making citizens’ lives secure or facing new challenges because of being next to the national capital, the ‘Dhaakad’ Jawans of Haryana Police have always shown courage, endurance and bravery. Not only this, when it comes to dealing with the agitations, the State Police has always played a competent and sensible role,” said the Home Minister.
Sh. Amit Shah also praised the State Police for serving selflessly during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The Home Minister said that Haryana Police is now among one of the 10 states in the country to receive the President’s insignia. Earlier, this prestigious honour was received by the police of the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Assam.
“In the year 1951, the Indian Navy was the first to get this mark. After that 10 police and many CAPFs have received it,” said Sh. Amit Shah.
Highlighting the glorious history of Haryana, Amit Shah said that on November 1, 1966, when Haryana came into existence as a separate state, the State Police force had started its journey with only 12,000 police personnel but today the strength of Haryana Police has reached more than 75,000, further expanding to 5 police ranges, 4 police commissionerate, 19 districts and Railway Police.
Sh. Amit Shah also praised the State police for its dedication and valour during the 80s-90s Punjab terrorist insurgencies.
He said that in the last one year, the Haryana Police, along with the central agencies, Punjab Police, Delhi Police and Rajasthan Police, has achieved huge success in eliminating many interstate gangs. For this, the Union Home Minister congratulated the Special Task Force of Haryana Police, established in 2018.
The Union Home Minister also paid tribute to 83 police officers and employees who were martyred since the inception of Haryana Police. Haryana Police has received more than 86 lakh calls on Dial-112 launched in July 2021 with the objective of providing quick service to the common man in case of emergency.
“The average response time of police was 11 minutes 36 seconds, which has been reduced to 8 minutes 22 seconds. The emergency response time of Haryana Police is second in the country. Under this project, more than 600 emergency response vehicles have been given to the police and work has been done to connect all emergency services with this single number,” said Sh. Amit Shah.
Haryana first in the country to successfully implement ICJS and CCTNS
The Union Home Minister said that 29 cyber police stations, and 309 cyber desks have been set up in Haryana, which has proved instrumental in cracking the whip on cyber fraud.
Sh. Amit Shah also congratulated the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and Home Minister Sh. Anil Vij for the successful implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) Project and CCTNS. For this innovation, the State has got first place in the country, said the Union Home Minister.
He said that under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister, concrete steps have been taken to make Haryana corruption-free by conducting 1303 raids by CM Flying Squad and Anti-Corruption Wing.
“Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi believes that the police should remain approachable to the public and reduce the difficulties of the people by bringing in radical IT reforms. Haryana has made many such reforms. Haryana has done commendable work for making the Arms license process online, cracking down on drugs through Narcotics Control,” said Sh. Amit Shah.
He said that during the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Prime Minister had called upon the Nation to take a pledge of a drug-free India. The Union Home Ministry along with the State Police Forces is working jointly to achieve this target. We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, said Sh. Amit Shah.
The Home Minister said that the Prime Minister has established the Police Technology Mission under the Ministry of Home Affairs to technologically strengthen the security forces across the country. All the ranks and cadres will impart training under this Mission, he informed.
“After the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, there has been a drastic reduction in terrorist incidents. Tourism in this area has also increased. Besides this, there has been peace in the northeastern states as well. Left Wing Extremism has been curbed to a great extent,” said the Home Minister.

Chief Minister thanked the Union Home Minister for conferring the President’s insignia to the Haryana Police. He said that the three words, Sewa, Suraksha, Sahyog in the Haryana Police motto are not just three words, but a symbol of our spirit and the passion to serve the society.
He said that being the Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah has taken several bold and historic decisions like the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A and the building a grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya.
“The Haryana Police has 21st-century efficiency. The State Police is providing 32 citizen services on the portal. The use of the internet and mobile is increasing in today’s time, and with this, cybercrime has also increased, to curb this, 29 cyber police stations and 309 cyber desks have been set up in the state. Besides this, women police stations have been opened from the district level to the block level in the state. The women representation in Haryana Police is 9 percent. We aim to increase it to 15 percent. Inter-State Drug Secretariat has been set up in Panchkula. Through this, 7 states are keeping a close vigil on drug peddlers,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
With this President Colour Award, comes a huge responsibility
The Chief Minister said that with the President Colour Award, the responsibility of the State Police Force has also increased manifolds. I hope that the State Police will also discharge their responsibilities in a more effective manner, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
For the last 56 years, Haryana Police has achieved many milestones in serving the Public
On this occasion, State Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that Haryana is known for its inimitable style. For the last 56 years, the State Police has achieved several milestones in serving the Public.
“I am feeling happy that being the Home Minister, my police force has received the highest honour of the President’s Colour Award. This will certainly give a major boost to the morale of police officers and personnel. Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi always shares his smart police vision and I am proud to say that my state police has become smarter,” said Sh. Anil Vij.
He informed that a separate cadre of traffic police should be made so that traffic can be controlled and accidents can be curbed. There is also a need to set up a separate vigilance cell of the police department to curb corruption.
On this occasion, Union Home Minister and Chief Minister also released a coffee table book on the glorious history of 56 years of Haryana Police.
