UP Elections 2022: Yogi Adityanath-led BJP set to return to power, predicts Opinion poll

According to Survey, BJP is likely to fetch 25-272 seats, SP may bag 111-131 seats while BSP & Congress will be restricted to a paltry 8-16 and 3-6 seats respectively.

New Delhi: Out of 5 states going to polls from February 10 to March 7, Uttar Pradesh is the most keenly watched state because of intense political fight and also because of highest number of Assembly seats.

In its survey, the Republic-P Marq Opinion poll has predicted a resounding victory for the BJP marking a return of Yogi Adityanath government in the state for 2nd term.

The Opinion projects BJP winning close to 252-272 seats in the 403 member Assembly, which amounts to almost two-third majority in the House. Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) is set to register big gains from its previous tally but not enough to give a fight to the big rival. Other parties including BSP, Congress, AAP are nowhere in the race, together not winning more than 25 seats.

According to Survey, BJP is likely to fetch 25-272 seats, SP may bag 111-131 seats while BSP & Congress will be restricted to a paltry 8-16 and 3-6 seats respectively.

In terms of vote share, BJP marches ahead of its closest rival by more than 8%. BJP is seen bagging 41.3%, SP at 33% while BSP is witnessing biggest dent in its vote percentage.

Who is most popular face for CM post?

In the Opinion Poll, Yogi Adityanath has emerged as the first choice for the chief ministerial position while Akhilesh Yadav is another popular choice. Yogi maintains numero uno position with 41.2% electorate favouring him for CM post while Akhilesh and Mayawati are liked by 29.4% and 13.4% people respectively. Priyanka Gandhi also appears on the list of favoured CMs, with an inclination of about 6% electorate towards her.

In its poll survey, the Republic-P Marq has used a moderate sample size of 16,390 individuals and sought to gauge public opinion not just on seat projections but also about state govt’s performance & other development issues. The feedback from the sample size was reportedly taken between January 5 to January 16.
