New Delhi: The US Embassy in India has begun with a program called ’12 Days of Visas’ where the embassy is informing Indian citizens about US Visas and encouraging them to apply for one. December 13 marked day 1 of the campaign which is dedicated to H&L visas. The campaign will continue for 12 days, which is, till Christmas.

Sharing a video clip on their social media handles, the US Embassy announced day 1 of the program. Informing Indian citizens about H&L visas, the video said that there was a 17 per cent increase in the H&L visa applications and the waiting time for the same has been reduced. It said that this means tens of thousands of workers and families have been able to reunite or start working in the US.

The L1 visa is the one reserved for managerial or executive professionals transferring to the US from within a US-based company or a company opening up its operations in the US, while the H-1B visa is needed when a US-based company hires a foreign professional for work. L1 and H-1B are the most common types of work visas in the US.

As the embassy shared the announcement, there were many people who poured in comments with their doubts regarding the US visa. There were questions regarding the visa application for refused slots and the B1/B2 slots.

US Embassy also shared that this year also marks the 100th anniversary of the White House Christmas tree ceremony.
