New Delhi: Total length of a fully Access controlled 04 lane expressway is 91.352 km. Estimated civil cost of the project:- Rs 5876.68 crore (including land cost). Starting point:- Jaitpur (district- Gorakhpur) bypass, NH-27-27. Last point:- Purvanchal Expressway in Salarpur (District- Azamgarh). Districts on the Expressway: Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Ambedkarnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar. Expressway access-controlled 04 lane wide (expandable up to 06 lane) and structures will be made 06 lane width.

The service road will be constructed on one side of the expressway in a staggered form and underpasses will be constructed as per requirement, so that the residents of the nearby villages of the project can get access to the expressway. For the convenience of expressway users, the construction of public convenience complexes is also proposed at 02 places.

The builders of both the packages of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway project have been selected through E-Tendering. The minimum tender in this project has come down by 3.12 % from the estimated cost, which has given a profit of about Rs. 98 crore to UPEIDA. The construction work of Package-1 has been started from 10.02.2020 and the construction work of Package-2 has been started from 19.06.2020. Currently, 99% Clearing and Grubbing and 50% Earth work, Sub grade work 28%, GSB work 22%, WMM work 19%, DBM work 17% has been completed. The total Physical progress as on dt. 08.11.2021 of the project is more than 29% has been completed. The stipulated date for completion of the project is December, 2023. The effort is to complete the main carriageway of the route by March, 2023.

Despite the blockage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the construction work of the expressway is being attempted by the builders of both packages to get the pre-pandemic progress rate.
