Dehradun: Tirath Singh Rawat takes oath as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand

New Delhi: BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat takes oath as Uttarakhand CM. The decision was made during BJP legislature party meeting began in Dehradun.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated new CM of Uttarakhand on Twitter. He wrote, “Congratulations to Shri @TIRATHSRAWAT on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He brings with him vast administrative and organisational experience. I am confident under his leadership the state will continue to scale new heights of progress.”

This comes a day after Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned after days of speculation about a leadership change in the state.

After being elected as the new CM, Tirath Singh Rawat said, “I thank PM, HM & party chief who trusted me, a mere party worker who comes from a small village. I’d never imagined that I’d reach here. We’ll make all efforts to meet people’s expectations & take forward work done in last 4 yrs.”

BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat to become new chief minister of Uttarakhand, announces Trivendra Singh Rawat who stepped down yesterday.

Dhan Singh Rawat, who is a minister of state in the Uttarakhand government is being considered as the frontrunner for the chief ministerial post.

He is considered to be close to the RSS. BJP MPs Anil Baluni, Ajay Bhatt and Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank are the other contenders for the position.
